Image Reflectors: Bearing God’s Image in Daily Life
Image Reflectors Throughline: We bear the image of God in our daily living; it’s who we are as we reflect God’s image. We also learn to see God’s image in others. The more Christ-like our actions, the more clearly Christ’s light shines in a dark world.
Students at Avail Academy are taught to bear the image of God in their daily lives. We emphasize the importance of reflecting God’s character and seeing His image in others.
The Bible teaches that humans are created in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 states, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Ephesians 4:24 encourages believers to “put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Reflecting God’s image involves living in a way that mirrors His character and love.
Image reflection involves recognizing that we are made in God’s image and that our actions should reflect His character. At Avail Academy, students learn to see themselves and others as bearers of God’s image, worthy of respect and love.
Being an Image Reflector means actively seeking to reflect God’s character in our actions. At Avail Academy, students are encouraged to:
Character Development: Engage in activities that promote the development of Christ-like character traits such as kindness, humility, and integrity.
Service and Kindness: Participate in acts of service and kindness that demonstrate God’s love to others.
Positive Influence: Be a positive influence in their communities, reflecting God’s image in their interactions with others.
Cultivating a heart for reflection involves developing a deep desire to live in a way that honors God. Students learn that reflecting God’s image is not just about outward actions but also about the condition of their hearts and their relationship with God.
3rd Graders Reflect Christ Beyond Our Walls
Jennifer Klobe’s 3rd-grade class demonstrated what it means to be Image Reflectors by creating more than 90 cards filled with words of encouragement and hope for women and children in need. This act of kindness was part of a service event hosted by Jennifer and her husband, who own Christian Brothers Automotive in Andover, during National Service Day.
The students’ heartfelt cards were distributed to families during the event, where free oil changes, safety inspections, and necessary vehicle repairs were provided to single parents and families in need. By participating in this initiative, the students spread Christian joy. They embodied their class’s Storyline and Deep Hope: “Seek to Find, Seek to Shine: We will seek to find God and His truths in all things, and we will seek to shine God's light into the world around us so that God can be known and glorified.”
A Vision for the Future
Ultimately, being an Image Reflector means living out a vision of the world that recognizes and honors the image of God in every person. It’s about reflecting God’s character in our actions and inspiring others to do the same. At Avail Academy, we inspire our students to carry this vision into their futures, living lives that reflect God’s love and character.
